Cycling holiday in Värmland
5-12 August 2020
Join us on a cycling holiday in Värmland’s peaceful countryside
The big advantage of these tranquil landscapes is that roads are wonderful to cycle on. The accommodation we’ll arrive at after each session will be of high standard and most of the hotels have a spa area. During the beginning of the week we’ll arrange a cookery course to complement one of our evening meals, led by friendly well known chef Håkan Mattson. As Värmland is a bit further north in Sweden this trip will take place in the middle of summer when it’s still warm and the evenings are lighter.
Lovely surroundings
80 -100 km cycled per day (on your own or hired bike). No heavily trafficked roads. Routes created/chosen by Glenn Magnusson to ensure an optimal experience, in terrain that doesn’t include any advanced climbs. The stages are on smaller asphalted roads in beautiful, undulating countryside. Värmland is a region characterised by extensive wilderness areas, lots of lakes including the largest in Sweden, Lake Vänern, and the Klarälv valley with its rich cultural heritage. All sessions are led by a guide on a bike, with a support vehicle as back up.
Accommodation
A number of the places we’ll be staying at in Värmland include Krokstad Herrgård, Guesthouse Eleven, Selma Spa, Dömle Herrgård and Elite Stadshotellet in Karlstad, some of the most exclusive accommodation in the area. The lovely relaxation areas at both Selma and Dömle are well known across the whole country. All the accommodation choices’ restaurants have excellent reputations so eating well won’t be a problem!

FAQ
DO YOU ARRANGE TRANSPORT OF CYCLES TO THE ACCOMMODATION?
On our trips your bike will be ready for you when you arrive at the hotel, and after the trip we will arrange return of bikes to the hire centre. So you don’t need to collect bikes, or clean them either.
DO I NEED TO PAY A DEPOSIT FOR THE HIRE BIKE?
No, that will be done by us.
IF I’M TRAVELLING ALONE CAN I STILL SHARE A ROOM WITH SOMEONE?
On each trip the participant’s choice of room is allocated on a first past the post basis. You will always be allocated a room with someone of the same sex.
IF I’M LACTOSE INTOLERANT WILL I BE ABLE TO COME ON ONE OF YOUR TRIPS?
We have had many guests with different food allergies and intolerances over the years who have always been well looked after, so it won’t be a problem.
WHEN I LAND AT THE AIRPORT HOW DO I KNOW WHERE TO GO?
One of our tour leaders will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall right outside the exit from the bag pick up area.
DO I NEED TO BRING PEDALS FOR MY HIRE BIKE?
No, if you let us know which pedals you use we’ll arrange for them to be on the bike ready for you.
WHAT IF I’M TOO TIRED TO GET BACK TO THE HOTEL DURING A SESSION?
There’s always a support vehicle on every excursion so you can hop on board if you get tired.
ARE THE GUIDES ON THE TRIP ENGLISH SPEAKING?
Yes, all the Swedish guides on our trips speak English.
IS THERE A SPA AT THE ACCOMMODATION AND IF SO CAN I USE IT?
Yes, there are spas at many of the hotels and we are very welcome to enjoy using the facilities.
DO I HAVE TO TAKE PART IN ALL THE TRAINING SESSIONS IF I’M STAYING FOR A WHOLE WEEK?
Not at all. You can take part in our well arranged training sessions on every day if you so choose. But sometimes participants just want to take it easy, so it’s of course perfectly OK to
have one or a few rest days.
